Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

Four of us took a private walking tour on October 6th and it was outstanding! Bill is so professional and knowledgeable. He obviously knows this city so well and had interesting perspectives and stories to share. One of the BEST walking tours we have ever taken! PS- he had great recommendations for dining, too:)

The tour is very informative and takes you throughout the city. It is a great way to learn a new city and see the main sites. Palmer was our tour guide and I would highly recommend her. She can give you great tips on food, drinks and anything else you may be interested in. We still use the phrase "north side manners" after our tour. It is a decent amount of walking, but nothing to strenuous. Palmer did a good job of trying to keep us shaded.

Rarely do you come across a person who is doing just what they are meant to do, with ease and passion. That describes Bill, the guide of the Civil War tour. He makes clear that his point of view is of a historian, not a cheerleader for popular narratives of either side being the good guys or bad guys. He packed in so many facts, insights, profiles of significant public figures both good and bad, and dynamics of the times while he walked us through the town and through the war. The eight of us, longtime friends in town for a reunion, were unanimous in in our amazement at how much we learned and how enjoyable it was. We were still talking about it two days later. Five stars all around.
