Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Me and my friends were in Charleston last June 30th. Although the temperature was rainy we had an excellent tour. Bill our tour guide was excellent. He took the time to explain in detail everything we saw. He answered all our questions with excellent knowledge of history. He took the time to explain the reason for the creation of Charleston in the colonial era. He also explained the slavery history behind the city that helped build the economy of Charleston. I find that specific detail of history very interesting and itā€™s a detail of important history that we rarely hear about. I greatly recommended this tour to my friends and I think it could have been Ć  bit longer because Iā€™m sure there are a lot of things that is still to be known about the history of that beautiful city. Merci beaucoup Bill!

Having traveled to many different cities, I have been on numerous walking-tours and this one just happens to be one of the best I have ever been on. My tour guide, Bill, had a wealth of knowledge and an answer to every question. He highlighted the growth of Charleston and its rich history as we walked along a beautiful route. We stopped at several churches to look at unique architecture, ventured inside an old theater, walked along Rainbow Row and much more. He engaged the group and challenged us to see into the past. Overall, I would highly recommend this tour!

My husband and I chose Oyster Point Historic Walking Tours as we were on our first trip to Charleston and were really interested in learning about its history and detailed information on the buildings in the historic downtown area. Luckily, we stumbled upon this company and one of its founders, Palmer Stowe. Palmer is an excellent tour guide; a wealth of knowledge and very passionate about the city and its history. She is pleasant, funny, energetic, smart and articulate. We cannot say enough about her customer service as well - we booked our tour one morning when it was raining. All of her other customers either cancelled or re-booked. She offered us a refund but also gave us the option of going forward with the tour; which we did!!! The rain stopped a few minutes into the tour so we had Palmer all to ourselves!! It was fantastic - highly recommend!!!
