Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. We had an amazing tour with Palmer. She was the perfect tour guide: incredibly knowledgeable, engaging, and fun. By far the best the best tour guide we have had in Charleston.

Bill led us on a fantastic tour, explaining how Charleston began, and how it evolved to be what it is today. Instead of focusing solely on the typical romantic Antebellum images evoked by pre-Civil War Charleston, he gave a realistic explanation of the role slavery played in the city's history, and the immense numbers of enslaved people who passed through the city. It rained most of our tour, but Bill rolled with it and showed us some hidden gems while dodging the rain. I highly recommend this tour.

I came down to Charleston with my wife this morning for a wedding. We were only going to be here briefly and decided the best use of time would be to take a walking tour. I have taken many of these but to this point have never written a review. I was however so blown away by Bill Harris that I felt compelled to do so. This is not a tour for people who just want to look at pretty buildings and their architecture. Rather he uses the buildings as a backdrop to discuss the history of Charleston in the colonial and pre-Civil War periods. He focuses on the economic history of the city as the wealthiest in the colonies , and is brutally honest in discussing slavery as the foundation for this economic success. This is all done in an engaging style with humor and a lot of passion. I ended this tour wanting all my Yankee friends from Philadelphia to come down to this wonderful city and take advantage of the opportunity to take advantage of Bill's expertise and passion as well.
