Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

Palmer was outstanding! Not only did we get a broad but history of Charleston as we strolled through the breathtaking historic avenues, but Palmer's VAST knowledge of Charleston's history was astonishing, as she detailed even the most intricate parts of Antebellum and post civil war Charleston. The two hours was filled to the brim with information and I appreciate the care with which Palmer put the information in context instead of just spouting disjointed factoids. On several occasions I found myself with my mouth agape in enthrallment with Palmer's telling of the various histories of the city. At the close of the tour, I made the wise decision of asking Palmer for a dinner recommendation. She suggested Leon's Fine Poultry and Oysters which turned out to be delicious! Look no further than Oyster Point Historic Walking Tours!

Palmer was an excellent guide! She had a ton of energy, extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. This is a great tour to take when you first arrive to Charleston to provide a snapshot of the city and its history. I wish the tour had a longer version (vs 2 hrs) so that we could have covered more ground and learned more.

We have taken tours around the country and around the world. We took a tour with Bill Harris yesterday and could not have been more pleased. He is extremely knowledgeable, interesting, witty and kept our attention the whole time. He is also very intelligent and articulate. Listening to him was a pleasure. He has to be the most factual tour guide in Charleston. You will be missing out if you do not take this tour.
