Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

Our guide Palmer Stowe exceeded our expectations. We've been on many walking tours in across the country and this one stood out. Palmer created a relaxed and fun atmosphere and was able to provide a rich, organic conversation with an incredible level of detail. If we are back in Charleston, we'll definitely go on another tour with Palmer.

If you REALLY want to learn about Charleston, if you REALLY want to enjoy the two-plus hours walking this beautiful city, this is the ONLY tour to take. With Bill as your guide, you will be informed, entertained, puzzled, delighted and challenged. His intellect, wit and energy drive this comprehensive and fascinating tour. I knew I'd enjoy Charleston; I didn't know I'd LOVE this charming Southern city, even with it's heavy history. It's all in the soup, and I've learned so much from Bill. Do yourself a favor. Take this tour. You won't regret it.

I made a tripadvisor account just to review this tour. I had a friend in town from Paris, she wanted to take a tour while in Charleston, so we booked with Oyster Point. Let me start by saying that this was the best tour I've been on anywhere, ever. I have taken tours in Europe and the U.S. and Japan. Bill was by far the most passionate and engaging guide I've ever encountered. He is intense. but in a good way and seems genuinely dedicated to educating people about Charleston's history. All of it, even the darker parts like slavery. If you really want to learn something, more than a canned presentation book with Oyster Point. I'm sure all the guides are great but Bill was truly outstanding. Thanks for a wonderful experience!
