Highlights of Charleston Guided Walking Tour

Overview
Our two hour Highlights of Charleston walking tour guides guests through the historic French Quarter and South of Broad neighborhoods of downtown Charleston. Along the way, your guide will describe the long history, unique culture, architecture, and geography of Charleston and the greater lowcountry area, painting a detailed picture of how Charleston's tumultuous past formed the city now beloved by travelers the world over. You'll view some of the city's oldest houses of worship, burial sites, theaters, the forts of Charleston harbor, and the antebellum mansions that look out across the waters of the Cooper and Ashley rivers, among many other historic and picturesque sites. Our guides also offer their expert advice on other activities, restaurants, and bars for guests to explore once they've finished their tour.

"Coach" is the name of the guide we had, he is a retired History teacher he was a wealth of knowledge!!! Not only was the tour GREAT, the history, sights, and stories we heard, but Coach was so funny and engaging! He was so easy to listen to and I loved the "trivia questions" he would throw to the group! I mean who or what could do a better job on a historical walking tour than a history teacher! Book this trip you will not be disappointed!! It was 2 hours and a great way to orient ourselves with the city!

Online review is never my thing but I feel compelled to recommend this phenomenal tour to everyone who is visiting Charleston. "Highlights of Charleston" by Oyster Point Tours was such a treat. Extremely engaging and satisfying. You learn so much from "Coach". As an academically trained historian and a born and raised Charlestonian, Coach is both extremely knowledgable and deeply passionate about the culture and history of Charleston. This will elevate your stay. An absolute must. (I personally prefer walking tour to carriage tour as it slows you down and let you stop and discover the details of the historic beauty. Charleston is perfect for walkers.)

Bill Harris hosted 16 of us on a tour of Charleston. He was so entertaining! We learned so much about the early history of Charleston and why we developed into the vibrant city that we are today. HIs framework of the early economics of the harbor, cotton and enslaved workers helped to put Charleston's growth into perspective. Insightful, knowledgeable and open to all of our questions, Bill was the best tour guide I've had in Charleston. I often take visitors on various tours and he was the best!
