What To Expect
1
Banyan Drive
Our first path drives us down Banyan Drive known as the "Hilo Walk of Fame" for the banyan trees planted by celebrities, such as Babe Ruth and Franklin Roosevelt and many others. These trees have withstood several tsunamis that have devastated the town of Hilo
2
Liliuokalani Gardens
This is the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan donated by Queen LiliŹ»uokalani in 1917. Throughout the gardens are stone lanterns, gazebos, and torii gates, recalling the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii.
3
Rainbow Falls
breathtaking 80 ft waterfall, Rainbow Falls. These beautiful falls get their name from the rainbow that is often visible in the mist that rises as the water cascades to the rocks 80 feet below.
4
Big Island Candies
Big Island Candies was established in 1977 to manufacture and market fine quality macadamia nut candies and cookies using 100 percent Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, island eggs, real butter, and high-grade chocolate. Since its founding, Big Island Candies has continuously introduced new and imaginative products that "wow" both the eyes and taste buds of its growing legion of fans.
5
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We will then make our way to the summit of Kilauea volcano at the Volcanoes National Park, the most highly regarded and revered volcanic area on Earth. The Park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes--Kilauea and Mauna Loa--and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. At the park, you will stop at the Visitor Center, witness the spectacular collapsed caldera, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic lookouts. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.
6
Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube
We will walk through a lava tube and the guide will share information with you on how it was formed by lava. This lava tube is .4 of a mile loop trail with low lighting. Gradual stairs descending into the tube ascending stairs coming out. Not all passengers may be physically fit in which they may stay in the vehicle or outside natural scenery for this portion of the tour.
7
Richardson Beach Park
Richardson Black Sand Beach, where sea turtles are usually spotted. The Black Sand Beach is a local favorite, and is a great way to see how the ocean and volcanoes make fine black sand.

We loved this tour - We found everything to be what we expected and wanted. My husband really wanted to see the volcano national park and I enjoyed it too. Giovanni made it real sharing how he lost his home last year with the lava flow, but was positive and optimistic even though he'd been through such a rough time. We enjoyed all the stops: the statue of King Kamehemehe, the botanical gardens, the smells in the orchids store, the Macadamia nut company, plus beautiful Rainbow Falls. We liked how Giovanni was so helpful with bottled water or granola bars if needed, helping us take our pictures and so full of knowledge and information of other things we passed by. He kept the tour moving and not too long in any area. It made the day fly by.

Our children would have rather rated this tour as a 50, but we're limited to 5 stars. On every stop, our tour guide Dre went out of his way to personalize the island and was a wealth of knowledge. You could tell his passion for his home island, it's beauty, culture, and people, from beginning to end. He went out of his way to meet the needs of each traveler and even activated his own friend network to answer questions he couldn't. It was an awesome day.

I really hate giving this company a bad rating. The tour itself was fantastic. We loved almost all of the stops that we made (the orchid farm could have been left out) and the driver was very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the bus they put us on was a piece of junk. To begin with, the air conditioning didn't work. One couple demanded that they take them back to the ship and refund their money. The rest of us opened the small windows and as we went up the side of the volcano the outside air cooled down enough to make it bearable. Then on the last stop at the volcano, it started to rain and the bus started leaking. The driver gave us the cheap plastic ponchos to cover ourselves with. I had one over my shoulder and another over my legs. The lady in front of me had one over her shoulders. In all fairness, we were the only two that I saw that was getting leaked on. If the company wants to remain in business, they will need to update their equipment or else they will start getting bad reviews and losing customers

Aloha tjdmlhw, I am glad to hear you enjoyed the guide and tour. The orchid nursery is a personal like or dislike but its quite fascinating the time and the work it takes orchid breeders to create a unique orchid. We deeply apologize and are embarrassed of the vehicle situation. That vehicle was not supposed to go on tour yet but was used as a back up that day due to another issue we didn't want to cancel all passengers last minute. Please note all of our vehicles stay maintained and this was just one of those instances we are completely embarrassed about.
