What To Expect
1
Banyan Drive
Our first path drives us down Banyan Drive known as the "Hilo Walk of Fame" for the banyan trees planted by celebrities, such as Babe Ruth and Franklin Roosevelt and many others. These trees have withstood several tsunamis that have devastated the town of Hilo
2
Liliuokalani Gardens
This is the largest Japanese garden outside of Japan donated by Queen LiliŹ»uokalani in 1917. Throughout the gardens are stone lanterns, gazebos, and torii gates, recalling the Japanese immigrants who came to Hawaii.
3
Rainbow Falls
breathtaking 80 ft waterfall, Rainbow Falls. These beautiful falls get their name from the rainbow that is often visible in the mist that rises as the water cascades to the rocks 80 feet below.
4
Big Island Candies
Big Island Candies was established in 1977 to manufacture and market fine quality macadamia nut candies and cookies using 100 percent Hawaii-grown macadamia nuts and Kona coffee, island eggs, real butter, and high-grade chocolate. Since its founding, Big Island Candies has continuously introduced new and imaginative products that "wow" both the eyes and taste buds of its growing legion of fans.
5
Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We will then make our way to the summit of Kilauea volcano at the Volcanoes National Park, the most highly regarded and revered volcanic area on Earth. The Park highlights two of the world's most active volcanoes--Kilauea and Mauna Loa--and offers insights on the birth of the Hawaiian Islands and views of dramatic volcanic landscapes. At the park, you will stop at the Visitor Center, witness the spectacular collapsed caldera, steam vents, sulfur banks, and fascinating scenic lookouts. No trip to Hawaii is complete without a trip to Volcanoes National Park.
6
Nahuku - Thurston Lava Tube
We will walk through a lava tube and the guide will share information with you on how it was formed by lava. This lava tube is .4 of a mile loop trail with low lighting. Gradual stairs descending into the tube ascending stairs coming out. Not all passengers may be physically fit in which they may stay in the vehicle or outside natural scenery for this portion of the tour.
7
Richardson Beach Park
Richardson Black Sand Beach, where sea turtles are usually spotted. The Black Sand Beach is a local favorite, and is a great way to see how the ocean and volcanoes make fine black sand.
8

We were promised a van with a lift. Big C had a van with a lift but no one to operate it!!!!!! So one in our party did not get to go. We made the situation clear with Viator. The tour guide was just fair.

Aloha, in all of our history of operating, we have never advertised nor promised a lift for large mobile scooters. We can accommodate collapsible wheel chairs and small collapsible scooters that are no more than 60 pounds and are size of a small suit case.

My wife and I took this tour in early Feb. 2019. It is a very interesting tour of the area. John was our guide and he knew where to take us. He lived close to the area that the lava flow had covered. We got to view the devastation caused by last summer's eruption. We also visited Volcanoes National Park and got a good look at the collapsed crater and still active steam vents. John was an excellent guide. He was very informative and interesting. I recommend both this excursion and our guide John.

Toured Hilo and most important Volcano tour Feb. 5/19, the amazing aftermath was amazing to see. Did a 7 day NCL Pride of America Cruise but booked tour through Vacations to Go. C Big Island Tours were the company we got booked with. Wow amazing service and great Tour. Especially want to thank Andres H. our tour guide and very knowledgeable and suggest you ask for him if doing this tour in Hilo. Gave me personal time and showed me a picture of what he took when Volcano was active and when asked he actually sent me this picture to my email address. Not many tour guides would do that. Thank you so much Andres and C Big Island Tour and will book with you again if back to Hawaii.
