Come join the crew aboard the Tammy Jane for a 2-hour educational and picturesque low-country experience as we take you out Shrimping! We invite you to learn about our healthy salt marsh environment, and introduce you to some of the sea creatures we'll safely pull up in our nets (in addition to shrimp!).

We will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.

This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home.

What To Expect

Vagabond Cruise

Aboard this two hour excursion you will explore how various ecosystems intertwine to create the rich food web that provides food for our tables.This is a unique opportunity for guests of all ages! If we do catch shrimp aboard an expedition the crew will package some up for guests to take home. All excursions depart from Harbour Town Yacht Basin within the Sea Pines Resort. There is a $9.00 per vehicle entry fee for the Sea Pines Resort that must be paid in cash. This gate pass is valid for the entire day, so make the most out of the Sea Pines Resort. Check-in for your Shrimp Trawl aboard the Tammy Jane will be at the Vagabond Cruise reservation office which is located just to the right of the Harbour Town Lighthouse. Captain Spike, Lauren, and Ian were such a great team. They were able to send us home with over 3 lbs of shrimp (they would have given us more if we could eat more). They taught us about the ecosystem, birds, sealife. My 4 year-old absolutely loved it. FYI, Hudson’s on the docks will cook your whole shrimps if you ask very nicely. (go before 6 or after 8pm). My entire family absolutely loved this experience.

Unique experience and a highlight of our trip. The two kids in our group (boys ages 5 and 11) really enjoyed it. They loved helping process the shrimp. Note that you wait 45 mins. or so while the net is down picking up shrimp; next time we would bring games or something to occupy the kids. For the grown-ups, it was nice just being on the water, seeing the dolphins and birds and other scenery, having a few drinks.

The small trawler named Tammy Jane was not worth the money. We realize weather is unpredictable so no one’s fault for that. However, the crew was NOT knowledgeable at all about the shrimping process and did not provide the educational experience that was expected especially since on of the crew was allegedly a marine biologist. Our 2 hour trip was a little more than 1 hour long due to weather. No apologies. No offer for discount on the next trip like many other ships. This was a tourist trap.
