I had the BEST time with Matt on our trip up to the creek! He was absolutely engaging and FUNNY, this guy has a wonderfully playful and quick wit. Of course, went home with gold as they are kind enough to share in their "paydirt" AND it really isn't just a bunch of flakes someone else threw into a pan of sand. Yes, I asked. Being one of the only single people from our cruise ship, it was refreshing to not feel like an oddball out. Drink from the creek, it helps with building the appetite for the salmon bake. Matt made sure we stayed on our 1 1/2 cruise ship feeding schedule, and the term Cruise Cows was coined! Oh. My. Lanta. The FOOD! I hail from SW WA state, so I'm pretty picky about my salmon. It went above and beyond my expectations, and the setting with our singer/story teller in the background was literally something from a story book. Right down to the walk up to the falls, and roasted marshmallows over the coals by the pond. I didn't eat for the rest of the day. Definitely worth the trip!

We chose to take part in the salmon bake and gold panning tour on our recent trip to Alaska. Our meeting time was at 1:15pm and was to depart by 1:30pm and we didn't get to the bus until 2:15pm; it was the first day that the folks on the pier had done this new tour and early in the season, however, when I asked why we were so late they didn't have a clue and they weren't going to give a refund to anyone. This was my husbands first trip to Alaska and instead of enjoying more time doing what we came to do we stood on the pier waiting for a bus. Once the bus finally came, we did have a great tour and the leaders were fun and dressed in costume. We found a little bit of gold and then we went to a charming location for the salmon bake. It was great! A bit of advice here.... you can rent your own Jeep in Juneau and go on your own. I wish we would have known that sooner. I wouldn't recommend this tour again.

So sorry for the late start on your tour. I do appreciate taking the time to let us know where we can improve. It is not surprising that the folks on the dock couldn't say why the bus was late. There are several moving parts to these tours that can affect departure times. Just to clarify to folks wanting to rent a jeep and self-transport to tours. Most tours in Juneau one must use the provided transportation as there are limited places to park at the different venues. Again, I apologize for the late start but it sounds like you ended up having a good time! Thanks for sharing! Dale E Smith Director of Sales & Marketing
