Fascinating tour--our guide David clearly loves (and knows) Asheville and its musical history, and he peppered his overview with all kinds of entertaining details and anecdotes about everyone from Pete Seeger to Asheville native guitar hero Warren Haynes. The stop at Citizen Vinyl took us right into view of an actual vinyl pressing in process. I particularly loved the stories about the Orange Peel's soul shows in the 1960s (Otis Redding!). And the Moogseum was a perfect endpoint destination. Highly recommended--just bring water if the weather is really hot and humid, because the tour lasts a good while (all outdoors after the Citizen Vinyl stop).

David is a superb tour guide, who manages to add personal experiences to so many behind the scene stories. Who knew so so many music greats were either from here or had some connection with AVL? So many genres are well represented that you don't have to be only a fan of Bluegrass to appreciate this tour. Added bonus is David's knowledge of the local venues and who is playing where. Do this on your 1st day and enjoy local music throughout your visit!

Interesting and in depth stories about the people who were the foundation of the music business and the historic places where events happened. Brings to life the streets of Asheville. Some of the highlights is seeing vinyl records being pressed and the Moogseum. Highly recommended. David is a native of Asheville and really knows his city.
