Historic Savannah Walking Tour

Overview
Our Savannah History Walk is an excellent way to orient yourself with Savannah’s past. We start in Savannah’s oldest square and outline the founding of both Savannah and Georgia. From there we head south, square by square, discussing Savannah’s booms and busts.

Some topics covered include the Oglethorpe Plan for squares, the father vs. son atmosphere of Revolutionary Savannah, the city’s most famous duel, Presidential visits, the Civil War era and Federal occupation, the experience of Antebellum and post-War African Americans, and the city’s churches and historic homes. We’ll take our talk right up to the tourist boom brought on by a certain book, the growing Port of Savannah, and where the city goes from here. You’ll also hear about dozens of men and women who made this place what it is.

Consider this walk a true “sampler” of the city’s history. Whether a tourist or longtime resident, you’ll walk away with a greater appreciation of all things Savannah.

Tonight my mom, sisters, grandma and I went on Brandon's Dark History Tour! It was absolutely fantastic and we would recommend it to anyone who enjoys history or wants to learn about the history of Savannah. Brandon was very knowledgeable and gave tons of awesome info. Since we did our tour on our last night in town we also got answers to lots of questions that we had been wondering throughout our week. If we were in town longer we would be going to his history tour at the cemetery tomorrow. Overall a great walking tour full of history and stories of death in the downtown!

I had scheduled a tour with Brandon a month before visiting Savannah. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate and the rain was coming down in buckets upon our arrival. Not to worry! Brandon kindly offered to refund our fee or meet with us at a local pub to walk through the savannah history at a reduced fee. We chose to meet with him and he spent about 90 minutes giving us a great background on the city. He used his own visuals and I referenced apple maps on my ipad. The next three days, my girlfriend an I were able to leverage the information he gave us to make our own walking tour of the city more enjoyable and relevant. Brandon also made himself available by text for any other questions we had as we went about our days. Great guy and obviously someone who values his craft.
