Overview
THIS TOUR IS A MUST FOR HISTORY BUFFS!

When planning a trip to Arizona, a visit to Jerome and the Verde Valley are a “must do”. Recently voted as one of “America’s Coolest Small Towns” by BudgetTravel.com readers, the former mining town of Jerome is one of the most popular sites in Northern Arizona to visit. On this 4 ½ hour tour, our guide will pick you up at your hotel, resort, timeshare in Sedona, Cottonwood or Jerome in one of our comfortable, climate-controlled vans. While your guide narrates the rich history of the Verde Valley, you will travel through historic Cottonwood, once called the “Bootleg Capital of Arizona” for good reason as you will learn.

We were fortunate to have Ken be our tour guide on a classic tour of Jerome, AZ. He picked us up right at our AirBnB in Sedona, so we actually were able to learn not just history of Jerome, but about Clarkdale, Cottonwood, and surrounding areas as well. Ken inspired us with his knowledge and stories of the area to look on-line for books and movies that would extend our learning. The town of Jerome is fascinating without a tour guide, but with a tour guide, you get so much more! It’s definitely worth the time and money to book a tour! If you are in the Sedona or Prescott area and DON’T take advantage of one of these tours, you’re missing out! Penny and John Iowa

This tour was more than we expected. In addition to Jerome, the guide also stopped in Clarkdale to give us background on the mining that was the impetus for the formation of Jerome. And he drove into the Tuzigoot national monument so that we could get a glimpse of the history of the native settlers in the area. His stories were delightful as well as informative. He gave us 1.5 hours of free time to have lunch in Jerome and look at some of the local shops which were mostly tourist traps, but then he took us over to an area where we could look down a 1900 foot shaft of the mine. Well worth the time to do this tour.

The tour was okay but not what we expected. Our guide did a good job, but the town is mostly just a tourist destination shopping and eating. The best part was seeing an old mine shaft and equipment.
