We were warned that whale watching tours at this time had been disappointing, so we decided for this dinner cruise to see the island and learn some history. The historical guide was well-informed and covered dozens of places and Hawaiian events leading to consolidation of the islands that occurred in this area of the island. Seeing Captain Cook’s monument was as expected and his story was fascinating. The dinner and entertainment were superb and exceeded expectations. The service of the crew members was friendly and very helpful. The sunset during our return was gorgeous. But the events that topped all else was a spectacular show of whales and dolphins. Several groups were spotted on the way out, and the captain maneuvered to keep us at a safe distance, yet hold us in positions to observe them. We saw seven full breaches, until we needed to continue to our destination. Then upon return, we found a group of several males and a female and her newborn calf, surrounded by dozens of dolphins. The captain kept us there for some 30 minutes, as we watched the baby whale play and try to learn to swim, mostly riding upon his mother’s back or side flippers. We were all thrilled at those whale/dolphin shows, but the captain should be commended for how he took advantage of the surprise opportunity and gave us much more than we could have expected. Also of note is that we had significant headwinds upon return, yet the captain did a fine job heading directly into the wind before turning 90 degrees to finish entering port. We had a reasonably smooth return, significantly better than other ships taking the shorter 45 degree path. I was impressed with the captain’s skills and concerns for all passengers. And I am therefore impressed by the Body Glove organization and will look to try other tours provided by them.

We took this trip about four years ago and enjoyed it so much we decided to go again. This time, we sat on the first floor deck, as I didn't feel like climbing stairs, and it was nice to be on the same level as the food and the bar. We enjoyed watching the musician, Bula, sing and play guitar and ukulele. We thought the food was very good, so I'm surprised at the prior negative review. It's sort of like going to a luau in that you have pork, chicken, beef, and lomi lomi salmon. Everything was hot and very tasty. They serve drinks and snacks on the way down the coast, then stop the boat for the meal at Kealakekua Bay. It's much easier to eat when you're not in motion. We saw a whale on our trip, and a marvelous sunset. We were on Maui the week before and did a luau there, so didn't want to do another luau on the Big Island. This is a nice experience for about the same price. No hula dancers, but great views, interesting historical commentary, live music, and good food.

Aloha Kay, What a wonderful review. Our menu has only gotten better over the years, so we expect negative feedback with regard to food will only continue to abate. We love your take on the experience and we all are so happy you thought it worthwhile enough to come out again. Many Mahalos, Body Glove Ocean Adventures
