Hoonah Whale Tours is a family owned whale watching company that operates out of Hoonah, AK. When taking this tour you will be on a private 6 passenger boat tour that goes out into Icy Strait. During the tour will you get the chance to see all sorts of Southeast Alaska wildlife, including bald eagles, sea lions, sea otters, sometimes brown bear and orcas and of course humpback whales! Our tours last between 3 and 3.5 hours and we guarantee you'll see whales or you money back. The boat is a 6 passenger catamaran, with a walk around deck, heated cabin, and a bathroom on board. We also provide snacks and beverages.

When out on our whale watching tour you will be in Icy Strait (body of water) You will get to see humpback whales (guaranteed!), sea lion, sea otter, and bald eagles. You even have the chance of seeing brown bear along the beaches, orcas and puffins flying by.

Our family had a wonderful day with Hoonah Whale Tours. From the pick up at the cruise ship tour area with Maraiya to the boat excursion with Jordan, the whole experience was flawless and fabulous. Absolutely loved that the boat is for 6 people or less- would not want to be on a boat with a hundred of your closest cruise ship friends! This tour provided a more private excursion. Jordan knew exactly where to go to find wildlife. We saw sea otters, sea lions, humpback whales and a pod of orcas! It was truly unbelievable! We had a gorgeous day to be out on the water. Jordan was very respectful of the wildlife; he was able to get close without being intrusive. The time spent in Icy Strait and seeing all of the wildlife was truly remarkable. Highly recommend! On a side note, my husband is a big fan of local craft breweries. On our trip back to the cruise ship, Maraiya stopped at the local craft brewery to let my husband sample a beer and have a look around. She went above and beyond and is a super sweet lady!

I can't say enough good things about Hoonah Whale Tours; Jordan and Mariah were fantastic. Jordan's boat is great and provides a warm cabin when needed to warm up and also a great opportunity to walk all around the boat to maximize the view. We saw more than a dozen whales and were virtually watching their activity for the entire time. As a bonus, we saw sea lions that swam right up to the boat and a sea otter. The sea otter made the trip for my daughters. Jordan was knowledgeable and willing to discuss the area and whales but also willing to blend into the background as our family shared a special experience. I can't say enough good things about Jordan and the way he captained the boat. I would never want to be on the boats with 100 plus people that you book through the cruise line. Jordan's boat is for 6 and is perfect for a great family experience. This is the only way to go if you want to see whales in a personal setting. Thanks Hoonah Whale Tours for a memorable experience that will last a lifetime!!

We had an awesome time on Hoonah Whale Tours at Icy Strait! Jordan was so intent on finding whales for us to see, and he did not disappoint. We saw 3 whales and watched them for a long time, following them everywhere. Also saw a huge group of sea lions that were playing with them, who came right up to our boat - got lots of great pictures. And to top it all off, Jordan's wife Maraiya provided us with hot coffee, hot chocolate, and the most amazing Blueberry muffins! Don't miss this trip - you'll remember it forever!
