You may spot elk, antelope, deer and buffalo and maybe even an elusive mountain lion. The beautiful Black Hills is the only place in the world where you can witness such historic, wild landscape and abundant wildlife from a hot air balloon!

What To Expect

Black Hills National Forest

Once the balloon is ready, you’ll gently take to the skies for an approximate 1-hour flight over the Black Hills National Forest. If you are new to ballooning, you’ll be surprised at the silence and serenity you’ll find high above the treetops. It’s truly magical. Upon landing, the ground crew will pack the balloon while you and your pilot celebrate the flight with complimentary champagne, light snacks and a story about the origin of hot air ballooning. Flights depart at sunrise and are weather dependent and always at the discretion of your experienced pilot.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

Damien and his experienced ground crew provided us with the ultimate experience of our 6 day trip in the Black Hills. From picking us up at a convenient location to take us out to the launch field, to the beautiful early morning flight over the Black Hills to an expert landing in a small field with champagne and snacks afterward, these men provided great service and a fun time.

My husband and I checked one off of our bucket list by enjoying a hot air balloon ride with Black Hills Balloons on Monday, October 16th. I believe it was their 100th trip of the season. Keely and Damian were a real joy to ride with and their crew members were a lot of fun. It was really nice knowing they had tons of experience and knew exactly what they were doing. The scenery was incredible. It was topped off by a champagne (mimosas) toast and delicious cheese and crackers. My hats off to Black Hills Balloons. We were totally impressed by the whole experience.

What an amazing experience! We loved every minute of our trip with Black Hills Balloons. The views were amazing, the pilot was awesome, and we even had champagne and snacks together after we landed. This was my first hot-air balloon ride, but it will certainly not be my last. I am already looking forward to coming back to Custer so I can ride with Black Hills Balloons again. <3
