What To Expect

Black Hills National Forest

Once the balloon is ready, you’ll gently take to the skies for an approximate 1-hour flight over the Black Hills National Forest. If you are new to ballooning, you’ll be surprised at the silence and serenity you’ll find high above the treetops. It’s truly magical. Upon landing, the ground crew will pack the balloon while you and your pilot celebrate the flight with complimentary champagne, light snacks and a story about the origin of hot air ballooning. Flights depart at sunrise and are weather dependent and always at the discretion of your experienced pilot.

For a full refund, cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure time.

I am so glad I did this. It was worth every penny. The experience is beyond words. It was beautiful, breathtaking and unbelievable. Dropping into Spring Creek Canyon was just awesome. The absolute quiet was amazing. I have never experienced anything like my hot air balloon ride. Checking it off my bucket list but I plan to do it again! Damien and the crew were outstanding. Everything went off without a hitch. The after party was educational and fun too! Thank you Black Hills Balloons for such and amazing adventure!

Before I booked this flight I canvassed opinion from friends who had done one to see how they had found it to see if my fear of heights would be a problem. I also emailed the guys at Black Hills and got lovely helpful responses that put my mind at ease enough to book it. I was very nervous on the day but Damian and his great crew (I only caught Elijah's name and his friend Mike was also great) made me feel more at ease and I don't know what I was worried about. It was the most amazing feeling and is somewhat indescribable. It's something you have to try to understand. The scenery, the amazing soft landing, the champagne toast, everything made this so worth it. I will definitely be doing a balloon ride again but may check with Damian first if he knows the company wherever I am as he knows his stuff and wouldn't settle for shoddy service. If you've ever thought even a little about doing this...do it.
