Yesterday, I embarked on a highly anticipated cruise from Kingston to Hyde Park. Unfortunately, the boat never reached Hyde Park, and no explanation was given for this change.
The boat staff were notably unfriendly. They didn't greet us when we boarded, yet they were all smiles when we disembarked; they made an announcement emphasizing that tips were their primary source of income. This request felt unjustified given their lack of effort in providing even basic hospitality and services.
The prerecorded message was adequate, and the snack bar was akin to a bulk purchase from Sam's Club. There was a complete absence of hospitality. I rarely give one-star reviews, but this experience was shockingly poor.
The state of the bathrooms was appalling, reminiscent of an elementary school restroom with a strong odor of urine. The overall cleanliness of the boat was barely acceptable. For a service charging $42 each, this is simply unacceptable.
There's immense potential to create a memorable experience with fun drinks [non alc] and engaging activities, but the staff's apparent disdain for their jobs ruins any chance of that.
I hope the owners take note, as the business won't last long if this continues. Hopefully, our experience was not the norm.
