The boat has a lower enclosed deck, a middle deck which is a shaded but otherwise open are, and an open air upper deck with bench seating.
A fully stocked bar with alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages and a snack bar with light fare such as hot dogs & fresh popped popcorn is available on the lower main deck at your own expense.
Outside food and beverages are not allowed on board the boat
There is plenty of seating on the boat, both inside and on the upper deck, which consists mainly of bench-style seating; the main lower deck has chairs; seating is on a first-come first-served basis, so be sure to arrive early if you’d like to sit in a particular area of the boat

Decided to take last minute cruise with my mom On a gorgeous Indian summer day! The foliage was beautiful . We ate at a great restaurant name Duo in town /Kingston before cruise and was delicious . Overall a great day spent with Mom .

Last Thursday our Leisure Club took advantage of the Indian Summer Weather and enjoyed cruising the Hudson River on the Rip Van Winkle. The ship held 161 passengers that day without overcrowding. There were plenty of chairs for all and much to see. Our cruise headed south from Kingston and traveled down the river as far as the Vanderbilt Mansion in Hyde Park. The captain also acted as our narrator and pointed out the many different homes, estates, and religious organizations that occupy both shores along the Hudson. The bonus that we had, in addition to the 80 degree temperature, was the timing of the changing of the leaves. We hit it just right. I would highly recommend taking this trip just about any time in summer or fall. Maybe you will be as lucky as we were.

Once again this summer we sailed on the Rip Van Winkle boat. We keep coming back year after year because we just love it! The boat itself is clean, spacious and the staff is always helpful and friendly. The tour offers beautiful views along with interesting facts. We have sailed other boats along the Hudson and find this one to be the best.
