A very relaxing way to spend the afternoon; reminded us of the Scottish highlands and cruising on Loch Ness!

we had wonderful weather for our cruise so that was a good start. Arrived early for a parking spot right by the gate entrance. cruise was informative and we got great shots of the lighthouses as we got close enough to see details on them. Houses are all up on hillsides and while most could be seen clearly, some were obstructed by the trees but a great way to spend some time on the hudson and i can only imagine how beautiful it is in the fall! You cannot bring food or drink on board so snack before hand as snack bar on board is limited and of course, pricey. bring a light jacket, sunglasses and camera! Buty popcorn or a pretzel from the snack bar before leaving the pier and feed the ducks that swim alongside.

For years, we have been taking sightseeing cruises on the Rip Van Winkle. The Rip is always ship shape and welcoming. Their snack bar is good and reasonably priced! Now Hudson River Cruises is also providing a cross the river trip on the Lark a smaller boat for only $10. Stop at the light Rondout light house or go to Rhinecliff for a drink or dinner or just enjoy a sunset from the water.
