Overview

Floating past spectacular geological formations and views of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range as you run exciting Class II-III rapids. This trip is suitable for families, first timers or experienced rafters with great views and lots of adventure. You will run the best 10 miles of whitewater in Bighorn Sheep Canyon, groups or individuals looking to experience whitewater rafting in Colorado for the first time or tenth time. Great views and adventure! 2 to 3 hours on the water. This is the only trip that can start out of either of our locations.

You will meet at our office and check in with our friendly office staff, meet your guide, get outfitted with the proper rafting equipment, go through and in depth safety orientation and then hop on a van or bus for a 25-30 drive to the river put int

Once you arrive at the the river you will be given specific a professional guide that will take you on an adventure of a life time! You will spend 2-2.5 hours on the water running great whitewater, potential Bighorn Sheep sightings and viewing amazing Colorado scenery.

I have whitewater rafted on many rivers around the world, and his was one of the best rafting trips. Our trip was primarily class 3 rapids, but the Arkansas River was flowing very quickly which made the trip really fun. I don't remember our our tour guides name, but he did a great job. Our trip was a full day trip which left early in the morning and covered about 26 miles. This trip was great because we were the only rafting company on the river early in the morning. Many of the other companies start their trips in the afternoon. What was great about our trip was that our raft wasn't packed. We had 9 visitors on our tour, and they split us onto two large rafts which one raft could have easily accommodated all 9. Many of the other rafting companies, that I saw in the afternoon, packed their rafts like a can of sardines. Since our trip was about 6 hours, we stopped for lunch a little over half way which through which gave a nice break to stretch and relax a bit. I would highly recommend Arkansas River Tours.

This was a Christmas present for our Grandchildren ages 8 and 10. They were nervous at first but soon got into it. I think the paddle high fives did the trick. By the end they were totally enjoying the trip. We did a full day trip which included a lunch on the rivers shore. It was excellent with lots of condiments for our sandwiches. Marshal was excellent in relating stories about the area, geology and previous rafting experiences. He also did a great job reassuring the kids and engaging with them...maybe its because he's a kid himself, sorry Mars. When we got back to their parents the kids said they would only do another raft trip if it was class 3 and 4...no 2s.
