Be sure to check out the original settlement as well as the reproduction. There are ships, the fort and, Powhatan village. All with historical actors that will talk with you about life back then.

I went there as a kid and had an expectation. I think they should put more emphasis on the outside experience and less on all the galleries. There could have been so much more of characters talking about life in the 1600's in the new settlement. I felt there were missed opportunities. I did like seeing the models of 2 of the 3 ships!!

This was a most extraordinary experience. Even my kids who moaned and groaned about going to a “museum” had the most amazing time. It really brought colonial America to life and is perfect for all ages. I definitely recommend and wish we could spend more than one day there.
