Two seniors spent a full day touring the Jamestown Settlement living-history museum run by the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation (an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia) in late September 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed it. This was a return trip in more years than we care to remember and much has changed for the better. There are costumed interpreters located outside at the replicas of an Indian village, the three colonist ships and at the James Fort. The interpreters were all interesting to talk with especially the ship’s crews, who actually sail on the two ships they take out into the Chesapeake Bay occasionally and the “soldier” who demonstrated firing a matchlock musket. We spent about two hours outside then broke for lunch (cafe inside the museum) and then spent the remainder of the day touring the inside of the museum. Overwhelming number of exhibits. Two very well-done short movies on Jamestown and Bacon’s Rebellion. Covered history from prehistoric times to about 1699 when the capital was moved from Jamestown to Williamsburg. YMMV but we love this stuff and read almost everything, so we ended up here from 9am until 5pm. There is so much history here. Very kid friendly. We decided to spend a week in the Williamsburg area so we purchased the America's Historic Triangle Ticket with seven consecutive days' admission for Colonial Williamsburg, Historic Jamestowne/Jamestowne Rediscovered, Jamestown Settlement, American Revolution Museum at Yorktown, and Yorktown Battlefield. Other ticket combinations are also available. See their website.

The museum is fantastic. Great combination of indoor and outdoor displays. Docents are fun to talk to. Get the combo ticket that includes Jamestown.
