Big Morongo Canyon Preserve
Nestled among the Little San Bernardino Mountains in the Sand to Snow National Monument, the desert oasis at Big Morongo Canyon is one of the 10 largest cottonwood and willow riparian habitats in California. The upstream end of the canyon lies in the Mojave Desert, while its downstream portion opens into the Colorado Desert. There are numerous trails to walk and hike, including a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk through the marsh and riparian habitats. At 31,000 acres with elevations ranging from 600 feet on the canyon floor to 3000 feet at the top of the ridge, this diverse landscape has been an important part of the Morongo Basin’s natural and cultural history for almost two billion years.

Loved our Hummer tour with Josh. He was so knowledgeable and friendly. We saw the oasis which was spectacular then got in the Hummer and went through Joshua Tree National Park to the peak of the mountain. It was a great ride, cold but great. I was so thankful for the blankets! We really enjoyed this tour and thoroughly recommend it!

Joshua Tree is an awesome park and our tour guide was excellent...however on an overall basis, we were disappointed with the quality level and cleanliness of the hummer. It had rained the evening prior to the adventure. When the hummer arrived, it was still wet inside the vehicle and the blankets for keeping us warm on very cold day were moist and musty. Additionally, the interior of the vehicle was noticeably dirty and untidy. There were also additional jackets for us to put on, however, they too were moist and musty smelling. Bottom line, for a tour that charges $170/head, one expects a premium overall experience. Blankets and Jackets need to be washed regularly and kept in a dry location - we were unbelievably cold and uncomfortable. The vehicle's interior needs a good cleaning as well!

This tour was just what I needed to remind me to be more deliberate about simplifying my life. Just so beautiful and peaceful. We had an excellent guide, Justin. He was full of great information and was patient with all our questions. So often a tour guide can make a big difference. He certainly did for the positive.
