Juneau City Sightseeing and Mendenhall Glacier Tour

Overview
Enjoy this narrated city tour with a trained local Alaskan guide. Natives of Juneau will regal you with stories from local history that stretches back 10,000 years – to the beginning of human history in the area.

The crowning point of the tour is Juneau’s natural treasure, the Mendenhall Glacier. One of 38 glaciers flowing from the massive 1,500-square-mile Juneau Ice field. At this stop you can explore this glacial wonder from a variety of perspectives like Nugget Creek Falls and Photo Point Trail, which winds along Mendenhall Lake to an unobstructed view of the glacier’s face.

Seeing a glacier that close up was truly something to behold, as was the scenery that surrounded us during our walks around the park. The guide we had (Wayne) was also terrific and made the experience an absolute treat. Highly recommend.

Trip through Juneau was short, but then it is a small town. The trip to the glacier and the hike into the waterfall was good. The bus drivers did a good job and the driver on the return trip had us all laughing.

We really enjoyed the tour. However, it was a good day. Not too cold, no rain, and a little cloudy so we saw the "blue" Glacier with a only a handful of visitors. I was told the group that came last week wasn't so lucky. So, your mileage may vary. The tour guide (bus driver) was very knowledgeable and gave us very good tips on what to expect, what to do, where to eat etc. Very helpful.
