What a great whale watch! We saw two of the whales that always come back to Juneau: Sasha and Flame (this year, Flame had her calf, Bunsen)! There were quite a few other whales in the area as well - it was super cool to see pods diving and kept us on our toes to figure out where they would emerge. I live in Juneau and had signed up for this trip since I had family in town, and they said this was the highlight of their visit! They had gone whale watching in Massachusetts before, but had never seen so many in one trip. Our naturalist, Megan, was so informative and was so good at identifying the whales by their flukes, scars, and fins - identifiers I could barely pick out. I really learned a lot about our friends in the sea! Our captain, Ray, was great at keeping us safe, figuring out where to bring us to spot all the whales, and warning us when the boat ride was about to get bumpy. We were on a 16 person boat but it felt much more spacious than that; I never had to worry about getting a good view!
