Dress warmly and in layers, and wear rubber-soled shoes such as a light hiking boot or athletic shoes. The tour company will provide overshoes and can supply raincoats as needed. Remember to bring your camera, film and binoculars!

WEIGHT RESTRICTIONS – Persons weighing 260 pounds (clothed weight) or more must pay an additional $150.00 to secure extra space in the aircraft. Not claiming the comfort seat or providing inaccurate weights may cause tour delays and cancellations without refunds. You must PRE RESERVE your comfort seat. ADA - We have an ADA lift that assists guests with getting in and out of the helicopter. If guests use the ADA lift, they will be required to stay inside the helicopter on the glacier. While on the glacier the pilot-guide will open the doors so guests can still take in the sights, sounds and smells. The ADA lift has a weight restriction of no more than 250 lbs. You MUST notify Coastal Helicopters if you will be requiring the ADA helicopter lift.

This is a costly tour but for me worth every cent. Everything ran on time. They fit ice boots on over your shoes so you don't slip on the ice.The pilot gave us a beautiful flight from the airport to the glacier we landed on, he also had good information about the glaciers and was able to answer questions. We flew back a different way and got to see more of the mountains and glaciers. I booked this tour thru TripAdvisor and I'm sure I saved hundreds verses booking thru the cruise line. It's like your on another planet when your there. Highly recommend.

First, I'll say that it's a worthwhile trip just to see the glaciers from the top, as it's totally different from seeing them from below. That alone made the trip wonderful. However, Coastal Helicopters has their process set up like a conveyor belt pushing through visitors like going through a mechanicized machine. I assume it's probably no better at the other big helicopter tour operators but my experience was not made enjoyable by their staff most of whom are just 20-somethings making some summer cash and who don't know anything about customer service. The pilot seemed to be on auto pilot and said hardly two words during the trip up and back. He was anxious to tell us what an expert he was on top of the glacier but was then annoyed when our group didn't rush back into the helicopter as quickly as he wanted and actually seemed miffed on the way back down. The whole experience was very impersonal and left you feeling rushed through the process. It was fun, but not because of any efforts made by the Coastal team. It was expensive but I am glad we didn't pay any more than we did (i.e., we'd wanted to do dog sledding which was twice the price but it was too warm so that was cancelled) and I would not use Coastal again althogh I'm sure all of the big companies are probably similar in the experience. They just rush you through the process without any personality. Positively they have it down to a science, moving a lot of people through the various steps from pickup to weighing you and fitting you into boots and such but there's a lot they could improve to make it a more enjoyable experience!

This was well worth the money. We had amazing views from the helicopter before descending onto the glacier. The pilot chose a location away from the crowds so we felt that we had the area all to ourselves as we walked and took pictures. This was a very memorable excursion and one of the highlights of our cruise. Coastal Helicopters was efficient, well organized and the pilot was both informative and enjoyable. The cost was affordable especially given that we booked it online rather than through the cruise ship. We also had time after to enjoy Juneau. I would strongly recommend it!
