Kauai Shore Excursion: Journey to Waimea Canyon

Overview
In stark contrast to Kauai’s lushness is Waimea Canyon State Park. Over thousands of years earthquakes and erosion have created dramatic variation in the landscape. Waimea Canyon, “The Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, is the showpiece of the tour and offers one of the best views of the western coast of the island.

Great half day tour round Kaua'i which I think was my favourite island, very green. Our guide who I think was called Leone was lovely, funny and informative. The spouting horn was excellent and of course the canyon was amazing. We'd been to the Grand Canyon the week before and yes this one is smaller but prettier as its less dry. We also enjoyed some local shopping and a precarious rope bridge at one of the local towns. Much better value for cruise ship passengers than those organised by the cruise company for the same thing. Defo recommend.

Absolutely loved this!! Waimea Canyon was beautiful as was the Spouting Horn. The tour guide offered lots of commentary and interesting information. He obviously really loves Kauai and wanted us to know about its rich history and to see its beauty for ourselves.

The big bus picked up our group at the cruise terminal. Tino, a retired US serviceman was our driver/ guide. If you closed your eyes, you might think that Sean Connery was driving the bus with the way he spoke. He was very precise and informative with his narrative. We first visited the spout and then the Kauai coffee company. The highlight of the tour was a visit to the Waimea canyon. This is a good half day tour to book for cruise ship passengers.
