My wife and I went on this tour and had a great time! Everyone was super nice and knowledgeable about the area. It was cloudy and threatening to rain so they gave us each a spray skirt to keep our lower body dry in case it did rain. The kayaks also have a dry compartment for a small backpack and had a foot controlled rudder to make it easier to steer. We saw a momma bear and her cub while we were close to the shore of an island and were able to just sit and watch them through our binoculars - very cool! Lots of eagles, of course. This is a casual, laid back excursion that will give you a delicious taste of Alaska. Added bonus: the guides accompanying us in the safety boat took pictures and sent them to us NO CHARGE!

We are so glad that the weather decided to agree with us. The rudder really does make it easier out there. We're glad that you had fun and was relaxing for you. We hope you all got some good photos!

This is not a scripted tour. The guides are Hoonah residents who use their local knowledge for the best kayaking locations. The conversations are easy and knowledgeable about everything related to nature, Tlingit culture and all things life in Alaska.

We wanted a non-cruise excursion and this local pod of Alaska experts provided an amazing experience, far from the cruise ship crowds. We were a group of 7 and had the most beautiful time paddling around Hoonah. It was the perfect afternoon and the guides were fantastic and shared stories the whole time. The total time in water was about two hours, which was plenty! Unfortunately there were no bears lurking, I think we were too early in the summer. Highly recommend this group. It was evident they wanted us to have a great time. And a big bonus, photos were taken from the safety boat and sent along to us that same afternoon (no charge). Thanks team Fairweather
