In order to book this tour basic swimming skills & previous snorkeling experience are required. Guest's must be able to swim a short distance to our snorkel board & independently climb up a side boat ladder. Guest must be able to converse in English to understand verbal instructions & safety briefings. Not recommended for guest's who have undergone surgery or have mobility/physical restrictions. Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

If you’re an experienced snorkeler then this is for you! If you aren’t then you need to find a company that spends time with you prior to the trip on how to properly fit the snorkel and how to use the mouth piece, we had a young girl as our instructor and she spent more time on the phone than preparing us and they had just one life jacket available for the group of 6. The boat driver and the diver were both very experienced and although I was nervous and couldn’t complete the dive my husband had a great time. I think they need to spend a little more time making sure their customers are comfortable with the equipment first or limit it to experienced snorkelers. It was a beautiful night and boat ride.

Thanks for sharing Sheryl. I'm glad you enjoyed the evening out on the boat with us, but sorry to hear that nerves got to you. We try to make it very clear in our tour description that basic swimming and snorkeling skills are necessary to do the tour. Our check-in attendant helps fit guest with gear but is also responsible for making sure that everyone is on time for the tour, calling and following up with anyone who may be running late and also staying in close communication with our captain and crew out on the water. If there was other phone calls not work related then we would be willing to have a discussion to improve upon this and correct any unrelated work calls, but I do want to let those reading that certain calls are part of the check-in attendant job duties. We appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review and hope to see out in the water snorkeling with us next time. Aloha.

Amazing experience. Get to see several manta rays. One even did several somersaults under the light. Staff were friendly.

This was such a great experience. I wished I remember the names of our crew because they were amazing. It was just a short boat ride to the snorkeling site (which is great for me since I get seasick). They made sure everyone was comfortable. I like that it was a small group (ended up being only 5 of us). It felt that they were able to be more attentive to us. Being able to see the manta rays up close was so amazing. They had hot cocoa and snacks waiting for us at the end too.
