In order to book this tour basic swimming skills & previous snorkeling experience are required. Guest's must be able to swim a short distance to our snorkel board & independently climb up a side boat ladder. Guest must be able to converse in English to understand verbal instructions & safety briefings. Not recommended for guest's who have undergone surgery or have mobility/physical restrictions. Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

Great trip, good gear, crew were very knowledgeable and friendly. We saw a manta ray every 20 seconds we were in the water. 30 mins with the manta rays. Absolutely worth it if anyone is on the fence!

Jimmy, Kelly, and the rest of the crew gave us an absolutely fantastic manta ray viewing experience. Not only did they take great care of our group, they made the entire experience a blast. We learned new, amazing facts about these gentle giants while watching in awe as they glided gracefully around us. If you are wondering if booking with Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours is worth it, it most definitely is! We will without question book with them again on our next visit to Kona.

book another big tour with more people!! They have bigger lights!! More bright!! Don’t go with 6 people!! Watching manta rays is an amazing experience! But we didn't see anything in the water for the first ten minutes. Our tour leader had to take us to another area that belonged to other big tours to see the manta. I didn't like my tour leader, she kept moving us floating on the sea. We were dragged away as soon as we saw the manta. This is really unpleasant! We should snorkel where there are manta rays. But my leader didn't let me stay with the manta too long and dragged me away. But other big tours just stay what they are. Don’t move at all! With a lot of mantas!

Your water guide, Kelly, is one of the best water guides and is a prior dive master who knows all of the manta rays by name. I apologize if you went on a night when the manta rays were not as active. I can ensure you that the manta ray activity is not dependent on our light board setup or group size as it varies each night. Also, we are sorry if you were pulled in a different direction from a visible manta ray. Our water guides are instructed to stay within certain parameters to maintain the safety of our passengers and I am sorry if this wasn't communicated to you.
