Guest's must be able to swim a short distance to our snorkel board & independently climb up a side boat ladder. Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

We got there for the last trip at 11pm. We were the only group out there and had our own private showing. The guide in the water had been there for 6 hours, but you’d never know it with how patient and kind he was. Our 13 year old freaked out and couldn’t hang and they were all very kind and understanding about it - like it wasn’t even a bother. They did a lot of education on the mantas, which was nice, and made us feel able to relax and enjoy the experience.

What a great experience! We met the Hawaiian Oceanic van in the parking lot near the boat ramp. After being fitted with a wet suit, we boarded the boat. The manta feeding site is within sight of the harbor. Cheoki and Jason told us about manta rays and what we to do once we get into the water. They put the light board in the water at sunset. We spent about 30-40 minutes watching the mantas and other fish swim under us. It was magical! The crew was great! I recommend this small group tour.

My family of four was nervous about being in the ocean at night. Our 11 yo son and myself are not strong swimmers. We brought our own air filled life jackets for my 2 sons and I. We also brought our own snorkeling equipment. Check in was very easy and we got suited up in wet suits. Our group of 6 (another couple) took a quick 3 minutes ride out to to water where we were greeted by 2 guides in the water with our surf board. We saw 1 manta ray the first 5 minutes in the water but nothing after that for about 5 minutes. The guides worked hard to move our board around until they were able to locate more rays. We saw 4-5 rays. They were so close to us, I was touched more than once on my arms. Seeing the rays open their mouth to feed on the planktons was amazing. They swam around us until it was time to get back. My sons and husband all said it was the best excursion we’ve ever done. Even better than swimming with the dolphins. The crew made us feel safe and made sure we got to see the rays. Just totally awesome!!!
