In order to book this tour basic swimming skills & previous snorkeling experience are required. Guest's must be able to swim a short distance to our snorkel board & independently climb up a side boat ladder. Guest must be able to converse in English to understand verbal instructions & safety briefings. Not recommended for guest's who have undergone surgery or have mobility/physical restrictions. Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

This was an unforgetable experience because of everyone involved. Bob helped me through booking, Ashley communicated with us through everything (see below). This is a 2 part review since our situation was an unusual one. Part 1: My husband, 15 years old daughter, and myself were all booked for this adventure for the 8:20 pm night snorkel last Tuesday (July 13). Unfortunately, after a day to trip to Oahu (including a heli ride and Pearl Harbor tours) the previous day, our daughter began feeling unwell (not covid related) and didn't feel well enough to swim. So, my husband did the snorkel on his own. He returned and couldn't stop talking about his experience! He was checked-in by Alicia. Part 2: Trying to recoup our losses, I communicated with Ashley regarding the possibility of rescheduling my daughter and I for another night. They were willing to accommodate us for Thursday night at 10:20 pm. My husband took my daughter's place and he and I snorkeled with the Mantas together. We were checked-in by a different girl (I don't remember her name), I don't remember the name of our driver, but Dillon was our guide in the water. Everyone was nice and professional. The Manta Rays....WOW!!! They come up right to you and several of them even scraped my hand. I used my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra encased in a waterproof case and took some amazing videos. Unfortunately, I can't post the videos here but I did take some snapshots of my videos and posted those pictures here. This company only books small groups at a time - around 6 people. I would use this company and recommend them over and over again. Dillon did his best to make sure we were at an optimum spot to experience these beautiful creatures and he even knew some of the creatures by name. Thank you Hawaii Island & Ocean Tours!

Didn’t even see a shadow of the manta , given the fact we were the last group of the day , no effort made to try and stay longer , no refunds no rebooking were offered.

Aloha Clifford, I am very sorry that you did not see any Mantas on your tour out with us. Generally manta sightings are very good, but they are wild animals and come and go as they please. Our crew works incredibly hard to try and give guests the experience they paid for, but we also understand that at a certain point the show is over and not every guest wants to waste their time on something that isn't going to happen, especially when it's after 11pm. Although you were late for check-in we still accommodated you and provided you a seat on the tour which offered the same amount of in water snorkel time as others. I'm afraid I have to disagree with your claim that no effort was made on our end to reach out to you. The contact number you provided on your reservation was an international number. Our staff member tried calling but was unable to reach you using this number. A message was sent to you (through the Viator platform) the next day following your tour. Because it is summer most of our tours have sold out. You were offered options for a seat on a different night but unfortunately had to leave the island before we could help make this happen. We have extended this offer to you in case you would like to come back and try again. For those reading our Manta Policy is as follows and is provided to all guests in the confirmation email: "Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. This was a fun tour, with a great tour operator - Hawaii Island & Ocean Tours. Why I would recommend this trip: Very reasonable price small group on boat (~6 ppl) Use of shorty wetsuits Perfect amount of time in the water with Mantas I would wholeheartedly recommend the Manta Ray Night Snorkel with Hawaii Island & Ocean Tours, it was a really fun & memorable experience! Mahalo : )
