In order to book this tour basic swimming skills & previous snorkeling experience are required. Guest's must be able to swim a short distance to our snorkel board & independently climb up a side boat ladder. Guest must be able to converse in English to understand verbal instructions & safety briefings. Not recommended for guest's who have undergone surgery or have mobility/physical restrictions. Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

The highlight of of our entire trip was to experience the manta rays.There were at least 10 manta rays around us and they were so close and personal. Of course, we were not able to touch it but regardless it was awesome. For those who don't swim, like myself don't worry I just had to jump off from the boat and the tour guy, Michael was very quick and had me to hang on the surf board.The water was a little cold but they give you wet suit. Reserve as late as you can so that less boats around where we can see more manta rays. I highly recommend anyone.

I never even got to experience this (despite booking 3 months in advance) because 1hr before our activity started, we received a call stating that it was cancelled. My husband and I were already halfway to the activity site as we were advised to arrive 40 minutes in advance. We were told that our tour guide got sick and that he had to leave. I do not understand why a replacement guide cannot be called in. I was also told that there would be no open booking for the entire week and thus I had to cancel this activity completely. This is really upsetting as we were most looking forward to doing this during our time in Kona. We booked 3 months in advance. I understand emergencies happen but you would think for such a “credible” company that they would have backup crew members. I could have and should have booked this tour with a different company. Beware!

Shortly after our scheduled crew member arrived for his shift he received an emergency call from his wife who was home with their three small children. We are sorry this happened on the night you were scheduled but sometimes things are just simply out of our hands. Please keep his family and their little boy in your prayers.
