The manta rays get VERY close to you. The company provides all the equipment (if you need it). I used my own mask and snorkel, but their wet suit. Fins are not allowed. There are 5 companies operating off of that dock, so it took a while to find the correct one. You float in the water for about 30 minutes in a superman position -- flat on top of the surface with arms hanging on to one board and legs supported with a swim noddle float. Our arms got sore from being in that position for so long. Do NOT use flash on your underwater camera as all you will get is the plankton. We had 5 rays feeding underneath us. They make loops as they come to the surface to scoop up the plankton with their large open mouths. Both my wife and I cut our left hand pinky finger getting out of the water into the boat. None of their staff was wearing a face mask.

This experience was incredible. We saw 7+ manta rays, and we were lucky enough to see dolphins. As someone who is very well traveled, this is one of the coolest things Iā€™ve ever done. They are RIGHT under you. Itā€™s exhilarating and mesmerizing and to me somewhat terrifying. Itā€™s a big island must do in my opinion. Also, It seemed as if all the tour companies were offering the exact same thing, even in the same location, so itā€™s a no brainer to go with this company and save money. Would highly recommend.
