Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

We just did the manta ray night snorkel and it was amazing! It can be a bit scary at the beginning but the fear quickly goes away once you see how beautiful and gentle these animals are. It was one of the best experiences we had on our 2-week trip in Hawaii. The whole tour takes under an hour to do, and the guides were very helpful. First you check in and get fitted for wetsuits and snorkel gear, and they explain what to do and what not to do on the boat and in the water. The captain then takes you on a short boat ride out to a floating surf board where another guide takes you into the water. You’re hanging on to a board with floats so there’s no swimming or diving involved so really almost everyone could do this. Everyone was kind and patient. The only thing I would recommend is that it would be cool to have a little tent or something to get changed into dry clothes afterwards. That said, it wasn’t really an issue. The road is pretty dark so it’s easy enough to change between car doors.

Thank you. We do require our guests to have prior snorkeling experience to coming out on a night manta snorkel but do provide day time snorkeling excursions with guides available to help you master basic snorkeling skills.

I have taken two manta ray snorkel tours on the big island. This was by far the best. The guides in the water were very knowledgeable. I learned so much all while watching these magical creatures swim below me. 12 out of 10 for sure!!
