Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

Was amazing, but the time waiting out of the water was to long. The mantas were huge and swam only a few inches away from us.

We were able to see 5 or 6 manta rays, which were amazing. However we spent 50 minutes waiting near the dock, and the total time on the boat and watching the manta rays was 30 minutes. We arrived on time for the 1 hour 20 minutes scheduled tour. It would be helpful to let people know that the tour is 30 minutes only.

Aloha Carolyn, Thank you for joining us. I'm happy to hear that you were able to snorkel with 5-6 mantas and wanted to follow up on your comments regarding this activity. The tour is described as 1 hour and 20 minutes. This includes EVERYTHING from the time one checks in till the time the boat arrives back to the dock. For the first part of the tour, there is a good chunk of time spent prepping guests before heading out on the boat. This preparation stage involves getting everyone fitted with snorkel gear, wetsuits, finish signing any liability waivers, receiving a manta briefing as well as boat safety instructions. If the preparation stage finishes early, then there may be a wait before the boat is scheduled to take that particular group out. After a quick 5-minute boat ride to the manta site 30 minutes is given for the snorkel session. This 30 minute of in-water snorkel time is stated on our website under the "What's Included" bulleted list and mentioned throughout various 3rd party booking platforms in the tour description. Our check-in attendant and captain also review this with guests before they get into the water. My apologies for the wait and if you were not aware of the 30 minute snorkel time, but we do mention it before going out and state it in our listings. I hope this helps explain our tour a bit better and that we might be able to see everyone in your group again at a later date.
