In order to book this tour basic swimming skills & previous snorkeling experience are required. Guest's must be able to swim a short distance to our snorkel board & independently climb up a side boat ladder. Guest must be able to converse in English to understand verbal instructions & safety briefings. Not recommended for guest's who have undergone surgery or have mobility/physical restrictions. Our Manta Policy: Manta Rays are wild animals and Hawaii Island and Ocean Tours cannot guarantee their presence. If a manta ray is not seen on your night out with us you may try again on a different night, or on your next visit. Guests who purchased tickets at our full online booking price may come back out again for free. Tickets purchased through a 3rd party (such as TripAdvisor/Viator/Expedia...etc) or at a discounted rate may join again for an additional $30 per person. Please keep in mind that seats may be extremely limited during certain times of the year. We usually are very successful in finding mantas for you; however if they decide to take the night off the costs involved with setting up the charter will not allow us to offer you a refund. We appreciate your business and understanding of this policy.

Terrific experience - these creatures are beautiful! What we appreciated most about Hawaii Island Tours: 1) wet suits are provided and are clean 2) easy 5 minute boat ride with only 6 customers making loading/unloading a breeze 3) though the check-in point is a white van in the parking lot the area is clean, has rest rooms and the van itself and gear are clean and in good working order. Our guides were friendly and small snacks are available (including hot tea and cocoa) at the end of the adventure. The wet suit made for a more pleasant experience. I was concerned we wouldn't have enough time with the mantas, but it was the right amount of time.

No rays tonight with the exception of one “flyer”as our diver called it that quickly swam under us. Not the divers fault but the small boards this company uses may not have as much light as some of the other tours. I’m just guessing of course but the diver did try to get more light by rafting up with another rival tour but with no luck.

Aloha Larry, Thanks for sharing. It's nice to hear that you appreciated the efforts and personalities of our staff. I'm sorry the rays were not as active on your night out with us. This occasionally happens and I want to assure you that it is not the lightboard setup in which we use. Rather, it's simply that not many mantas were in the area on that particular night. It is a common practice for guides, from other companies, to link up their boards when few mantas are present so that all the guests can have the best possible chance of seeing them. I have been linked up to 10 different snorkel boards before when only one manta showed up. All the guests were able to enjoy it because we, as guides, worked together.
