Travelers should have at least a moderate level of physical fitness
All guests are required to sign an insurance/liability waiver in order to participate
Drivers must be at least 25 years old and are required to show a current driver's license
Minimum age for the tour is 5 years
Children must weigh at least 40 lbs (18 kg) in order to fit into the required life jacket
Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately
Children 13-17 must have a signed parental consent form to participate in the absence of a parent or guardian

What To Expect

Tongass National Forest

For the Jeep® portion of this safari adventure, you will join up to three other guests, with plenty of opportunities to change drivers for those who want to get behind the wheel! While you traverse the mountain roads of the Tongass National Forest, your guide provides you with interesting and informative commentary using a two-way radio. You'll be fascinated by the area's natural history as you pass through old growth and new growth forests and stop for magnificent views and photo opportunities along the way.

We had such a fun time with Casey Tabor on this adventure. We are a family of 5 (age 10-16 kids) and this was the perfect way to get out of the city in Ketchikan and see/ experience the mountains around town. The canoe ride is super short and safe, but casey made it fun and entertaining. While Casey had only been on the job a few weeks, he had plenty of knowledge and made the day breeze by. One of Casey's co-leaders was aggressive and unkind, but we are glad we got in his group which made the day.

This tour was just ok. We spent way more time on logistics, waiting, and the drive to/from the tour sites than we did on the actual jeep ride or the canoe. The Jeep ride is really only fun for the driver. If you have two drivers in the car, you only get about 5-7 mins to actually drive. The canoe ride was extremely short. We ended up with another group with many children and teens which made the canoe experience a lot less pleasant. All the workers and guides were very nice, but our main guide did not provide any commentary while on the Jeep ride, and his forest walk narration was uninspiring. He also isn't the best picture taker, so we ended up with not so great photos on the canoe where we couldn't take pictures ourselves. Overall, hours of logistics for maybe a total of 1 hr of activities made this tour just ok for us.

Haven't had so much fun and 'thrills' in such a short time in years. Two hours of wheeling in a Jeep over some terrain and water is thrills made young and old. Our grand kids had a ball. The patient guide made it pleasant even for the novice wheelers in our group. Paddling in an old style canoe across a lake in the rain to old growth forest was a lovely way to end the excursion. The guide was very knowledgeable about the forest and very understanding of the needs of young and elderly in our group. What a pleasure.
