Tongass National Forest
Come join us on a stunning 3-hour, 4-mile roundtrip hike in a small group of up to 7 guests! Hike an improved gravel trail alongside a forested lake below a mountain. Plenty of spots for picture taking. From there, the second mileā€™s more natural tread is mixed with gravel, large rocks, and roots as you ascend through an old-growth rainforest displaying large specimens of Sitka spruce. At 1100 feet of elevation, you arrive at the bottom of an avalanche chute, our destination. Be one of only two tours a day allowed on this cherished trail. This tour is led by the owner and operator. Enjoy connecting with him, each other, and the wilderness of Southeast Alaska. Ask about how to practice mindfulness on the hike and in other areas of your life! Ask about our endangered old-growth forests and how to protect them!

Our Tongass Teague tour put the cherry on top of our already amazing trip to Ketchikan. My college-aged daughter and I were in awe of the natural beauty you can only experience with your feet on the trail. Our tour guide made me completely comfortable with as much, or as little as I could handle physically on our hike. While Teague is filled with knowledge of the area, he knew how to let us just take in the awesome majesty of the trail. We all took lots of pictures, laughed, and just had fun! I can recommend this tour wholeheartedly!

I love the title of your review, Jamie! And thanks for such a glowing review. It was my pleasure to spend the day with you and Laura, who is a splendid human being. Was so wonderful to connect with you again and glean some of your guitar wisdom as well. We did have a fun time! I miss it already.

Absolutely perfect day in Ketchikan, AK. Our guide was upbeat, very knowledgeable, and did a wonderful job engaging with every member of our small group, including my 12 year old daughter. Guiding is all about being able to quickly bond with everyone in your group, and our guide was perfect! The hike itself is a lovely, only somewhat moderately challenging trek for 2.5 miles (each way), through some of the most beautiful old-grown sitka spruce temperate rainforest you'll find anywhere. The avalanche chute is impressive and the lake is stunning. If you're looking for a half-day tour for a short cruise port while in Ketchikan, and you love nature more than shopping, this is the tour for you. Stunning.

Thank you for your kind words, Scott! I so enjoyed meeting and talking with you, Sophie, and Karolina. Such a lovely family, and your daughter rocks! Was fun to talk about guitars for a little while too. All the best to you!

We had such a great hike with Teague! He was professional, friendly and so knowledgeable about the surroundings we explored. We especially enjoyed having a little impromptu meditation session at the base of the avalanche chute, impossible to pass up soaking up all of the natural beauty surrounding us! Would recommend taking this trek!
