Snorkeling is fun, safe, and easy aboard the Sundiver III. Join us for a 2.5 hour underwater tour to the shallow, inner, coral reefs located at the "World Famous" Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary, also known as the original John Pennekamp State Park. Our friendly crew specializes in kids, families, and first time snorkelers. You will be absolutely amazed at the underwater world that lives just offshore of Key Largo. High quality rental gear (mask, fins, float vest) is INCLUDED with all snorkel tours provided by Sundiver.

The crew was friendly, that was about the best thing on this adventure. The boat was moored far from the reef. The current was strong, the surface choppy. The tour only included one stop and the reef that we explored was small and not very interesting. A few colorful fish and some coral were observed. Visibility was compromised by murky water. Next time we are in Key Largo, we are going to snorkel in John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park instead.

The 1st mate and captain were drinking beer while we were in the water. Really? Is that even legal? They show this as a snorkel tour; but the only thing they do is rent you gear; take you out on a boat; and leave you to yourself. For someone snorkeling for the 1st time; there was no "how-to". The only instruction we got was how to put on the mask; not the breather in when the eater fills in; and how to inflate the life vest. Thats it. I expected more after paying $45. I could easily do this by renting a boat and gear myself. Some people in my boat had no clue how to proceed and just had to sit around the boat the whole time while the crew were chatting. The captain and 1st mate were very rude. Also, as mentioned, they were drinking beer. The corals were great; which was the saving grace and saw some nice jellyfish as well.

As the owner of Sundiver Snorkel Tours and someone who has been in the boating business in Key Largo for over 30 years, I can promise you the Captain and Mate, were NOT drinking beer !! This is a serious accusation and one that is simply ridicules. Our boat captains are very experienced and know the rules and are top notch, Law abiding citizens. They would NEVER have a beer on the job and risk the safety of anyone nor would they jeopardize their careers. As far as instructions, we always have a serious 5-10 minute briefing with our customers on how to snorkel, what direction to swim to get to the reef and lots of other important information. We also answer any questions you may have and are available the entire trip to help out. I have to say this review sounds extremely UNLIKE our operation and I have to question the authenticity and accuracy of this review... This was our second time using Sundiver, Aug 2, 2014. They took us to Molasses Reef. The last time was 9 years ago. That trip was to the Christ statue area. Both trips were great. Staff is professional, knowlwdgeable and friendly. They were patient with the newbies & children. My daughter enjoyed both trips (first one at 8 y/o, second one at 17 y/o) and would love to go again. Her Dad took her on the first trip & he snorkeled with her. I took her this trip but was an observer only. (Discount for those not snorkeling) I did sit on the platform & soak my feet. Sodas were $1 each. You can bring your own cooler with snacks & drinks. Bring towels. Boat ride was 15 min. Snorkeling 1 hour + and a 15 min boat ride back. Do the early morning trip if you get seasick because what little waves there are won't make you sick. Don't put sunscreen on your face, it will run in the mask & in your eyes.
