We've visited Key West before and love to kayak, so this seemed like a great shore excursion for our cruise stop. It was exponentially beyond great! Bryan was our guide. His personality is perfect for guiding a dozen or so kayaks through the mangroves. He was funny and helpful, yet extremely passionate about sharing his knowledge of marine life with his guests. Plus, he (and his doggie Kaimana,sp?) worked very hard at keeping us focused and safe as we toured. He would see something above or below the water, gather us around, then jump in with a small net to show us marine life up close and personal (star fish, crabs, conch, etc.). We were all able to see the animals up close while Bryan explained the species and how to handle and protect them. Two days later when visiting the Bahamas, we found a live conch just off the beach. Because of what Bryan taught us, I wasn't afraid to safely handle the conch then properly return it to the water without harm...plus share that knowledge with others nearby who asked. We were lucky to have Bryan as our guide, but I'm sure their other guides are great, too. As shore excursions go, this was a great value that included van transportation to/from the ship and the 3 hour tour. Thank you Bryan and Lazy Dog for a great experience!

We booked this as a last minute activity, while in Key West for the week. Boy am I glad. We had great, patient guides and pointed out so many interesting sites. Beautiful area, I highly recommend this trip.

I love to kayak and thought Lazy Dog would be fun. I'm also an outdoor experience writer and event curator so I'm always seeking these types of activities out. I was blown away to be honest with our two hour mangrove trip with Heather. The paddle was fun and gorgeous but Heather told amazing stories about the ecosystem and found prehistoric Horseshoe Crabs, Conchs in their shells, cucumber slugs, octopus, rays, and sharks during the trip! It was part kayak and part animal history class and it was truly unique, fun, and one of a kind. I would love to go back. If you like getting up close to the mangroves and seeing wilidlife like this, and maybe even holding it, then you'll have a fun time with Lazy Dog!
