What To Expect

Mild to Wild Rafting and Jeep Tours

Discover the spectacular La Plata Canyon (20 minutes West of Durango) and its beautiful U formation created by glaciers on one of our Colorado jeep tours. Several small waterfalls and cascading rivers follow the rugged jeep trails in the springtime along with lots of wildlife such as marmots, mule deer, elk herds, juncos, kingfishers, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks and bald eagles. On our guided jeep tours you will see numerous wildflowers, high-alpine meadows, and avalanche gullies. Following the La Plata River (meaning “Silver” in Spanish) to La Plata City, an old mining town established in 1875, you’ll discover the remnants of old mining claims. These include a tall intact chimney left from the crew quarters, the framework of old cabins, and tailing piles from actual mining areas. Then, you’ll continue to the peak of Kennebec Pass at 12,000 feet above sea level (also above tree-line).

We went on a Jeep tour with Jay as our guide. Our entire family of five went and enjoyed the trip immensely. Jay was very knowledgeable and friendly and was so patient to answer all of the questions that my daughters had. And the view at the top was unforgettable! Thank you for an amazing experience!

Jay was our tour guide. It so happened that it was just my wife and myself on the tour.. Could not have enjoyed the tour anymore. The accommodations were excellent. The Jeep we rode in was practically brand new. The scenery was next to Heaven. Jay, our guide, was so full of life and in his element. He was the perfect host/guide. Very knowledgeable about all aspects of the area we toured. The objective for my wife and me was to recharge in the presence of God's beautiful mountains. Jay was a keep figure in making this happen. If you don't do one of these tours while in the area, your will greatly miss out on a wonderful experience. .

Awesome scenery and terrific overall experience!! Our driver, Daniel, was outstanding and made the trip a lot of fun!! We had just a short time in Durango and wanted to immerse ourselves in some of what it has to offer. This was an excellent choice for our group of 6 adults. Two people were concerned about getting carsick, but we had no issues at all. Highly recommended.
