What To Expect

Mild to Wild Rafting and Jeep Tours

Discover the spectacular La Plata Canyon (20 minutes West of Durango) and its beautiful U formation created by glaciers on one of our Colorado jeep tours. Several small waterfalls and cascading rivers follow the rugged jeep trails in the springtime along with lots of wildlife such as marmots, mule deer, elk herds, juncos, kingfishers, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks and bald eagles. On our guided jeep tours you will see numerous wildflowers, high-alpine meadows, and avalanche gullies. Following the La Plata River (meaning “Silver” in Spanish) to La Plata City, an old mining town established in 1875, you’ll discover the remnants of old mining claims. These include a tall intact chimney left from the crew quarters, the framework of old cabins, and tailing piles from actual mining areas. Then, you’ll continue to the peak of Kennebec Pass at 12,000 feet above sea level (also above tree-line).

It was awesome! We had a great time. I definitely recommend, this tour through the San Juan Mountains. The tour guide was knowledgeable and had a great personality and sense of humor. We enjoyed it so much.

Went up to Durango for a family wedding. My brother suggested a jeep tour and booked us up in one. The morning of the tour was a cool 45° and nice. My sister is special needs with limited mobility. Tosh our driver and guide did a wonderful job to accommodate and make comfortable my sister, and was very kind to her.Tosh is very knowledgeable of the area, plants, wildlife and points of interest and a real fun guy. Tosh is also a certified EMT and carries his gear, just in case. The tour itself was amazing with the vibrant colors, and the natural waterfalls. The trip was not too bumpy and felt safe with Tosh at the helm. If you decide to take a jeep tour, suggest Tosh, he will make the trip wonderful and memorable.

Such a fun trip! Tosh took us up the mountain, he was so gracious and even picked wild berries for us! Highly recommended this company for all your adventure needs! Our guide took such good care of us and was super accommodating!
