What To Expect

Mild to Wild Rafting and Jeep Tours

Discover the spectacular La Plata Canyon (20 minutes West of Durango) and its beautiful U formation created by glaciers on one of our Colorado jeep tours. Several small waterfalls and cascading rivers follow the rugged jeep trails in the springtime along with lots of wildlife such as marmots, mule deer, elk herds, juncos, kingfishers, turkey vultures, red-tailed hawks and bald eagles. On our guided jeep tours you will see numerous wildflowers, high-alpine meadows, and avalanche gullies. Following the La Plata River (meaning “Silver” in Spanish) to La Plata City, an old mining town established in 1875, you’ll discover the remnants of old mining claims. These include a tall intact chimney left from the crew quarters, the framework of old cabins, and tailing piles from actual mining areas. Then, you’ll continue to the peak of Kennebec Pass at 12,000 feet above sea level (also above tree-line).

Most excellent Jeep Tour of La Plata Canyon. Friendly, knowledgeable driver and guide (Jerry). Awesome way to explore the area. We also did the same day whitewater rafting trip afterwards. Fun excursion with Alex, who made the trip very enjoyable. A word of caution, if doing back to back tours, plan well, as the scheduling is tight so that you can keep the fam fed and watered. All in all a great day with a first class company.

Hello, Our family had a once in a lifetime day with Jared as our guide:) Our first Jeep 4x4 trip - it definitely did not disappoint!! It rained a little earlier in the day, which made the foliage and flowers so colorful !We took the 1:45pm trip, a little chilly going up to 11,650ft The rain brightened up the Aspen, Pines, ground cover and many beautiful wildflowers. We saw lots of animals , learned about the many old silver mines and our 10yo twins had an awesome time!!Jared packed blankets, warmer blankets and cold bottled water. We were comfortable in the cooler temps up towards the top. Excellent driver as well . Our twins loved, loved, loved Jared and our adventure! A++ customer service!! Highly recommend Jared for your Jeep adventure! He does tours from both Silverton and Durango !

We truly enjoyed this Jeep tour! Our guide, Doug, was exceptional - stopped along the way to show us the variety of plant life in the mountains. He also shared stories about the area which made this trip quite memorable. We highly recommend this trip to others!
