What To Expect

Emerald Bay State Park

The Ultimate Half Day Tour departs at 7:00 am, and focuses on the best of Tahoe’s South and West Shore areas. Our journey begins at a beautiful secluded Tahoe beach, shadowed by spectacular Mt.Tallac. Across the river is an Eagle sanctuary, and you will be able to view and photograph different species of local birds, and possibly even a bear. As the mountains and lakes beckon, our adventures continues to back country lakes and spectacular waterfalls. Above the falls, another high country lake awaits our arrival. Climbing 2,000 feet above Tahoe to a high country ridgeline, gives you amazing views. Continuing to one of the most photographed locations in North America, Emerald Bay. Tahoe Photo Tours will take you to special locations to avoid the crowds.

Sugar Pine State Park

Sugar Pine Point State Park contains one of the finest remaining natural areas on Lake Tahoe. With nearly two miles of lake frontage, the park has dense forests of pine, fir, aspen and juniper. Constructed in 1903, the property is one of the finest examples of a by-gone era of summer retreats found along the shores of Lake Tahoe. With crystal clear waters and up to 24 inch pine cones this is a must see location.

Jim is awesome as he readily shares so much of his photography knowledge and expertise with each of us. There is always immediate feedback regarding composition and settings. Plenty of history surrounding Lake Tahoe is discussed, which adds even more meaning to our photos. It was quite evident that Jim tailors the experience for the small group. For me, I learned so much and got to see the best views of the lake for July.

My husband and I enjoyed the photo tour with Jim. He took us to some beautiful spots around Lake Tahoe that we wouldn't have found on our own. Loved the photos of the two of us in such a beautiful place!

We used the photo tour as an orientation for Lake Tahoe, having arrived the previous evening. Jim collected us from our hotel at 9am and the tour lasted until c4pm, having gone around the entire lake (which from memory is 72 miles). He took us to some locations that you might not have found yourself. We took some photos ourselves (IPhone) and he took some too with his professional camera. He gave us some tips on how to improve our own pictures (framing, use of water reflections etc). As a local, Jim was very informative and good fun too. We were sent his photos about 1 week later, which were excellent. A few of them are in this post.
