My husband and I were visiting my nephew and wanted to take him. We are huge lego fans and have been passing down our love for them to our nephew. I was utterly disappointed in our experience at your discovery center. I purchased the $22 package for all 3 of us so we would get the collectors lego sets. When we arrived the only options to choose from for the sets were friends and duplo, neither of which had any interest to my husband and I and we were forced to take a friends and a duplo set.I also paid for a photo package which was extremely confusing. On the website it said it was an unlimited digital photo page then on my purchase it said 1 photo. We had 3 photos taken all were the same background and my husband had to wait nearly 20 minutes to actually get an employee to show up in the photo area for us to actually pick up the photo. I stupidly also bought the activity pack for my nephew. The ring they are using to hold the "pages" together is a joke it continually fell apart even with me handling it rather than my nephew. Now onto the "attractions" a 2-3 foot rip in the theatre screen? Inoperable interactive displays (a large number either didnt work or were "coming soon" in the miniland area). The build a race car activity... seriously? The parts are so worn the wheels would not stay on no matter what we did and there were none of the little hubs to help hold them on anywhere, and no employees around. I wanted to play with the movie activity but again no employee around and we were not able to figure it out. I was so utterly let down. I was even disappointed with the minifig swap. There was nothing special about the ones the employees had, actually the ones I had brought were nicer than the ones my nephew got in trade. Prices on everything in their store are strategically on the bottom of the boxes instead of the front. Don't waste your money, this place needs a serious renovation and they appear to not care. I attempted to express my disappointment after our visit when I had time and essentially was told I was wrong. Management claimed that the legos are inspected and tested regularly. I cant believe no other employee has noticed that NONE of their legos stay together because they are so worn there is no way to race a car.

Age is really showing at Legoland Discovery Center in Schaumburg, IL. I have been here 3 times over the past 5 years and each time it seemed more of a ripoff. None of the guns work in the cart ride where you shoot at bad guy images that are supposed to be 3D but really are not. Several of the pods were broken on the spinning bike ride too. The 4D movie was very lame with the only 4D effect being a few flashing lights and water mist (which they hit you with about 10 times). There are lots of build stations so kids are still going to enjoy it but $20+ per ticket to get in the door is too steep for a place with technology from 1995 especially when you are likely going to spend another $100 in the gift shop buying your kids more legos. The place can and should be way more interactive with better special effects. I'm sure they are just milking the cash cow - time to reinvest in the product Lego!

Drove 3 hours to take my Ninjago loving 7 year old during the month of Septemer as they had Ninjago advertised as their main feature. This was very poor advertising. They advertised that you can meet Kai and get an autograph and they would have a maritial arts workshop. We were there for a total of 3.5 hours. Didn't see Kai the first 2 hours we were there. My 7 year old kept asking, so I asked several staff members. Every time I got a different answer. I was first told he walks around every hour, but we had been there for 2 hours by this point and hadn't seen him. Then next person told us he would be out at 1:00 but it was already 2:30 by this point. I kept trying to tell him it was 2:30 and the staff member kept telling me he would be out at 1:00. He didn't quite understand that it was already past 1:00. He was very confused by this. Eventually I started getting frustrated and it felt like they got the janitor to dress in a Kai costume just to make me happy. It was so rushed. My 7 year old met him for 30 seconds before getting scooted off. Never got an autograph. The martial arts class was not existent. I showed one of the staff members my phone with the webside advertising the class and he said I should check the details because often those things to run on the weekend. But the website specifically said Saturday, from 2 to 4. So they quickly opened the class. My child was non the wiser and he had a good time. However, when we left he did say he was suprised at how small the place was and that there was not really much to do. He was right. We were basically done with everything he wanted to do in one hour. He basically walked around for 2 hours just wondering hoping he would run into Kai. The place lacks any organization. The legos they have out to play with are very random and hard to build with. They have a race ramp set up. My child spent 30 minutes trying to find parts to build a car to race down the ramp but the parts were too random. He could not find 4 wheels to put together. I would not recomend this place.
