My wife made me do this one and so I did. As someone who doesn’t care about gardens or flowers too much i thought it was really pretty. My only complaint is it was an uphill hike, and we already did two hikes that day, so adding another for the day was just too much. The views from the top were great. The pricing wasn’t too bad. I can’t see kids really enjoying this one, I would say it’s a good thing to do for couples or anyone who enjoys flowers and gardens.

This is a must-do on Kauai! Reservations are recommended as there are limited parking spaces. We booked the night before for an 11:30am spot. The staff provide a booklet on check-in for a self guided tour. The booklet contains a wealth of information about the different plant species within the gardens. There are several extinct species that can only be found here in Limahuli! So it’s a really special place to visit. Don’t be like the majority of tourists who just walk through these gardens and ignore the booklet! We saw so many people just racing on through and not stopping to smell the (figurative) roses (or I guess you could say hibiscus?!). We learned so much about Hawaiian history, culture, and botany from the booklet. If you do this tour properly, it takes 90 minutes. It was one of the highlights of our Hawaii trip and offers breath taking views of the Na Pali coast and Makana mountains.
