Limahuli Garden and Preserve

Envision what the valley might have looked like when the first Hawaiians arrived as you follow the path through the native forest walk. Discover the plants that traveled with them in their canoes and how their culture was inseparable from the plants that sustained them. Interesting leaning about the origin of the plants and what they are used for. We were expecting more beauty flowers...grounds were not what we expected

This is a great self-guided tour largely because they give you a really nice printed brochure explaining what you are seeing. The trail and points of interest are both well marked as well. We went at our own pace and met some fellow “gardener travelers” along the way. Take water and wear good shoes. We climbed to higher elevation but the trail was very gradual. Highly recommend. Staff was very helpful and friendly. This is not for kids unless they are really interested in botany.

The garden is quite small. Walking through the entire thing would take you 30min top. There were some nice spots but overall nothing spectacular. If Byodo-in Temple on Honolulu cost $5/ticket then this place definitely does not worth $25/ each
