Llama/Alpaca Hike and Farm Tour

Overview
Your visit will begin with a brief tour of our farm and introductions to some of our smaller friends (i.e pygora goats, sheep and overly friendly barn cats ) with a short story of our 1850 homestead located in The Historic Hudson Valley on 25 bucolic acres . Followed by Llama/Alpaca 101 and why these soft and fluffy critters are the new Unicorn of animals. We will cover basic safety rules and answer any questions before we begin our trek.

We will guide your Llama/Alpaca trek through gentle pastures, paddocks, past a stocked Bass pond and encourage Llama/Alpaca Selfies along the way.

You will experience a walking and working Fiber Farm tour amongst our 25 bucolic pastured acres. Our hope is that this tour will allow you to reconnect with a quieter side of life, one that allows for relaxation, warm and welcoming animal encounters and a country stroll through our pastures allowing a reconnection to nature.

My family and I did the llama/alpaca hike. First off communication was excellent with the farm. I planned on going on a day they were not normally open according to the calendar. I called and spoke with Andrea who opened up the calendar and accommodated us. One of my kids was apprehensive about getting their own animal so we booked him the sharing option. Prior to our appointment an email was sent out to advising us that conditions were going to be extra muddy and to prepare for it. Arrival was awkward as another reviewer mentioned because no one was there to greet. Unless you count Cricket the cat! There should at least be a sign. Andrea was a former educator and it shows. Prior to your hike you get a brief overview of her background, the farm and the animals. My wife and I enjoyed it as it was well presented and informative. However my kids were chomping at the bits to see their new friends for the day. The hike consists of getting your own animal which you lead with a leash. They are very docile and friendly and follow instructions well. Even when taking pictures! You walk through their farm, onto a hilly trail and then through a flat wooded trail back to farm. It's not very long or strenuous. But it was very muddy at times due to previous days rains. Overall it was very fun and unique. My 10 year old daughter was super happy and that made it worth it.
